In class today we watched more of the Guns, Germs and Steel video.  We learned and talked with the class about how there are still Native American Tribes around today like the ancient people we study. The tribe in the video is from Papau New Guinea.  They have their men hunt and their women gather.  The women gather by chopping down sago trees and hacking out the middle to get to a sap that they can turn into food.  One tree provides about 80 pounds of food.  Although the New Guineans are always in need of food, a lot of the meat they catch and food/ grain they gather ends up going to waste due to their lack of ability to store and save food.
